PARISH COUNCIL

The footpaths in Haselor are to be resurfaced this year. The footpath from Hoo Mill Corner to Alcester is in a very poor condition. Apparently resurfacing is in the five year budget plan but it is not considered a priority. The bus company operating the route which runs through Haselor had received a complaint about the buses going through the village and had redirected the buses. Members of the public attending the meeting said this was causing them considerable inconvenience and everyone in the village should have been consulted. They were concerned that the route was changed without any consultation with the Parish Council. People are now having to walk to the crossroads to catch a bus and when teenagers are catching the last bus home they have to walk to their homes in the dark. The Parish Council need to get an idea of how many villagers will use the bus and they will circulate a questionnaire asking for views on routes, stopping places, frequency, etc..Regarding the planning application for the Maudsley site, the appeal went to the Secretary of State and was rejected. The developer is considering taking the case to the High Court. Sir William Lawrence told the meeting that the District Council has to increase its level of recycling – things such as plastic bottles and cardboard are not being collected. Coloured wheelibins are to be distributed to all houses for recycling purposes. A leaflet explaining the new system will be sent out shortly. The Parish Council elections will be held in May. A notice will be put in the Parish magazine requesting people to stand for the Parish Council. The precept for the year was discussed. Last year it was £3,000 and it was thought that this year it should be £3,500. This was proposed, seconded and agreed. Donations agreed were C.V.S. £27.50, C.P.R.E. £28.00, C.A.B. £30.00, Parish Magazine £25.00, P.C.C. £50. It had been asked if gas could be brought to the village. It has to be proved there is a demand for the service and to this end a questionnaire will be circulated. It was hoped Great Alne Parish Council would also circulate a questionnaire on this subject. The next meeting is on the 27th March at 8 p.m. at Haselor School.

Haselor Amenities Committee

Haselor Amenities Committee Christmas outings concluded on Sunday with the Senior Citizens’ lunch at the New Inn, Clifford Chambers. Thirty five people enjoyed a carvery lunch, wine and a chance to meet up with old friends. This was the 35th year the senior citizens have been taken out and Miss Joan Smith, who is now 98, has been to every one. There are very few teenagers in the village at the moment but a small group were taken rock climbing in Birmingham. Conversely there are quite a number of younger children and 25 came to the children’s party where they were entertained by The Great Barloni’s magic tricks and Punch and Judy and enjoyed a party tea.
